EFFECT OF APPLICATION OF GYPSUM ON YIELD AND QUALITY CHARACTERISTICS OF PEANUT(Arachis hypogaea L.)
2 Süleyman Demirel Üniversitesi Ziraat Fakültesi Tarla Bitkileri Bölümü, Isparta Viewed : 1936 - Downloaded : 1194 This study was conducted to compare the effects of the applıcatıons of gypsum on the yıeld and qualıty characterıstıcs of peanut as a main crop. The experiment was done in randomized complete block design(RCBD) with three replications in the Batı Akdeniz Agricultural Research Institution, Aksu, Antalya in 2008-2010. Gypsum doses of 0, 15, 30, 45 and 60 kg da-1 as resources of Ca and S were tested on NC-7 peanut variety. Gypsum applications of 15 to 45 kg da-1 increased pod yield and the number of pod per plant increasingly, but the values of the dose of 60 kg da-1 fell below the dose of control (0 kg da-1). According to the control dose, 100 seed weight values were increased with gypsum applications, but did not change on a regular basis. Compared to the control dose, higher values of harvest index were found in 15, 30 and 45 kg da-1 doses of gypsum while 60 kg da-1 dose values were lower. Shelling percentage was affected negatively by gypsum applications. While oil content increase became at application doses over control dose, 15 kg da-1 dose caused protein content to increase significantly. Keywords : Peanut, Calcium, Gypsum
