2 Tarım ve Köyişleri Bakanlığı, İl Müdürlüğü, Nevşehir Viewed : 1878 - Downloaded : 967 This study was conducted to determine the effect of some methods on cold storage of Valencia oranges. In the study oranges from cultivar 'Valencia'grafted on sour orange were used. Treatments were Control, Control+waxing, Modified atmosphere packaging (MAP) and MAP+waxing. After these applications oranges were stored at 6ºC and 85-90% relative humidity (RH) for 4 months. Percent weight loss (%), fruit juice (%), total soluble solids (%TSS), pH, titretable acidity (%), green button (%), and fungal and physiological disorders were determined from fruit samples taken on a monthly interval. According to the results, the percent acidity decreased while weight loss, fruit juice, pH and TSS increased for all treatments during the 4 months of storage. Percent weight loss was significantly higher in control fruits (6.00%) than MAP (0.66%) and MAP +waxing fruits (0.59%) at the end of storage. Valencia orange grafted on sour orange were stored successfully at 6ºC and 85-90% RH for 4 months. Keywords : Orange, Valencia, Modified atmosphere packaging, Storage, Waxing
