Plants are attacked by viruses, bateria, fungi, nematodes and insects. Plants haven`t immune system to protect themselves against pathogens and pests. Howewer, they have carried mechanisms of antimicrobial defense which are either constitutive or inducible and resistance (R) genes. The purpose of resistance breeding is determined resistant genes, transfered to cultivar plants and cloned. Determination of resistance genes are time consuming and difficult in tradition breeding. These can be eliminated using molecular markers.
