Various physiologic disorders effect tuber quality and storage life of potatoes. These disorders can be classified as internal disorders (blackheart, chilling, freezing, internal heat necrosis, hollow heart, jelly end & glassy end and vascular discoloration) and external disorders (chain tubers, cracking, deformations, little tuber, hair sprouting, swollen lenticel and greening). Disorders result from stress conditions encountered during growing season and storage conditions. Susceptibility of cultivars to stress conditions are different and damage caused from these disorders can be provented through good agronomic practices, better storage conditions and use of suitable cultivars.
